Happy 250th Anniversary!

I've been sitting in meditation, thinking about today. Thinking about the wars. Thinking about the 250th Anniversary of the United States Army. Thinking about how many of my ancestors served in our Army, for our military, for countries across the world. I've also been thinking about god, prayer, and miracles.
I'm beginning to realize that I pray like a warrior. My grandfather once told me there was no such thing as an atheist in a foxhole. I believe that is true for true patriots. For the men and women who fight with honor. My grandfather also always told me to never light a match or lighter 3 times in a row; first shows your location, second gives them aim, third takes your life. My prayers come similarly; first I ask WTF, second I listen, third I take orders.
Tonight they are celebrating the Army with a parade. I know it is controversial because it is also associated with Trump, but I sit here in tears thinking about all the men and women who have lost their lives working for the Army, thinking they were protecting their country and loved ones. I don't know Trump, and though I respect the human aspect of him, this parade is not about his birthday in my eyes. This parade is for all the service men and women who have sacrificed their lives and their families' lives throughout the centuries. This is for my family and friends who have served and lost their lives to the wars of this world. This is for me and the life I have had to sacrifice in the name of this country. So here is a letter to the Army and our military.
To all those who have served in our Army and all the branches of the United States Military,
My grandfather was my hero. My grandfather, among many other family members, wore your uniform. My grandfather fought in Korea. My grandfather also taught me that life is precious and should never be taken lightly.
Today, we celebrate 250 years of protecting this nation, our loved ones, and our home. War is never something one hopes for, yet it always seems to become an inevitable occurrence. Throughout our history, we have fought, lost, and won several wars. Today, we face yet another one in the world and our homeland. Today, I ask that you remember what brought you to your military service. Today, I ask you what it means to wear the uniform of the military branch you serve. Today, I ask you what you stand for. Today, I ask: What does integrity mean to you? Today, I ask you to stand in that integrity. I have never served alongside you, but I have been your support network since before I was born. The day you signed your contract, you swore to defend our Constitution. Today, I ask you to remember that oath.
From the depths of my heart and soul, I love and respect each of you. Thank you for having the courage to wear our nation's uniform. Thank you for the courage to protect and defend our loved ones on our land and across the world.
Love to you all, Hooah!
